Gypsy of the Year
On December 18, 2007 at the New Amsterdam Theatre, 26 originals members from the Broadway production of West Side Story, including Tony Mordente, reunited on stage for the opening number of the annual Gypsy of the Year, which raised more than 3 million dollars for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Other original cast members included Tony Mordente, Harvey Evans, Carole DʼAndrea, Gina Trikonis, Chita Rivers, Carol Lawrence, Ken Le Roy, Reri Grist, Francis Taylor and Jamie Sanchez.

Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life
Tony recently worked with his former Bye Bye Birdie stars, Chita Rivera and Dick Van Dyke, staging the musical numbers for Van Dyke's special guest starring performances in the Broadway hit, Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life. He was assisted by his daughter with Chita, award-winning choreographer/director Lisa Mordente.

West Side Story: Tonys
Memories
Tony can also be seen sharing his fond memories of making
West Side Story, in the newly released Special Limited
Edition DVD Collectors Set, West Side Story Memories.
This
two-disc box set is a must have for any West Side Story
and/or Tony Mordente fan. The newly remastered film which
can be viewed with or without the original orchestral
intermission, remixed and remastered in 5.1 stereo sound,
is just the one of the many treats. The hour long West
Side Memories features many of the key players, including
Tony Mordente, offering insights into the making of the
movie and details of some of the off-camera antics. Other
highlights include the never before seen footage of
Natalie Wood actually singing I Feel Pretty (which was
later replaced by the voice of Marni Nixon) and a gallery
of behind the scenes photos, production designs, and
storybook sketches. And the reproduction of the original
lobby brochures provides the icing on the cake.

revolves around a minister, his wife, and their seven
children facing the complexities of life. Some of the
issues explored on this series include, teen suicide,
sibling rivalry, gang violence, hates crimes, and
vandalism, while always offering a sense of hope and the
need for love and forgiveness. Some of awards presented
this series include, The Parents Television Council, The
Media Projects Shined, Entertainment Industries
Councils Prism, Viewer Voice, Anti-Defamation
League, Film Advisory Board, Teen Choice, and TV Guide
Awards.

City, where shared insights about the many stage and film
musical in which he performed. Harvey WSS recollections
